Juried Art Judge
Frederick Markham grew up in rural Kentucky and received his Bachelor of Arts from Transylvania University (Lexington, KY) in 1998. He briefly studied at University of Kentucky before earning his Masters of Fine Arts from George Washington University in 2004. Shortly after receiving his MFA, he began to make vigorously painted plein-air paintings in the DC and Northern Virginia Area which he has exhibited regionally and nationally. In addition, he has been a local educator at a number of schools and colleges including, The George Washington University, The Art League School (Alexandria, VA), Montgomery College, and Northern Virginia Community College. Since 2007 he has been a full-time professor of painting and drawing at the Woodbridge campus of Northern Virginia Community College.
