Dior Ashley Brown and The dAb Band

Native Washingtonians and products of Duke Ellington School of the Performing Arts, The dAb band is a live soul filled combustion of Hip Hop, Funk, GoGo, and Jazz. Lead by Dior Ashley Brown’s vocals and lyrics, Turk Gaines on keys, David Suggs on drums, and James McCreavy on bass. The quartet’s goal is to revive the appreciation of live instrumentation combined with substantive Hip Hop storytelling motivated by Dior Ashley Brown’s Lyricism that inspires and motivates the audience.

Apart of what makes them unique is their improvised compositions where the lyrics and musical accompaniment become a beautiful complement to one another. Challenging the listener to melodic intricacies with daring feats. Creating divinely spirited vibes that not only reach their audience mentally but internally raising their awareness, creating positive dispositions from their authentic creations.

The band is DC based, most recently performing at Tropicalia, Atlas Theatre,Joe’s Movement Emporium, Sospeso on H Street, The 8x10, Baltimore, The Jam at Wilson Building’s “Politics and Art,” News Channel 8’s “Let’s Talk Live,” The Annual DC Funk Parade, East River Jazz’s “Ella Infusion: A Ella Fitzgerald Tribute from a Hip Hop Perspective,” and 89.3 FM WPFW’s “Live@5.”
